The cook did NOT approve (of people cheating me!!!)…

Back I was at the docks one day looking for interesting pieces of scrap wood from shipped cartons. Found this exquisite pile of faulty planks. I remember drawing up these chairs approximately on a scrap of paper right there to calculate how much I needed, brought them home, made them, and, heavily used, stood and danced upon, they still hold up, being none the worse for wear. Not even a wobble.
But. After they were made, I remember calling my cook into the working room to ask her what she thought of them. She went silent for a while (much like many of my friends on social media today when inadvertently presented with my latest ghastly art pieces), and then managed weak sounds of sympathy…
“Tch… how much did they charge you for this wood?”
“XYZ rupees…”
“TCH TCH TCH…”
“?????”
“Didi, you are too naive. Next time take me with you. Did you even check what kind of wood they gave you? Full of holes! Ugly! And at that price!!!”
“…”
By the way, do YOU like them?
Go back to my carpentry?
